The International Road Transport Union (IRU) is pleased to announce that it has awarded the IRU Order of Merit to the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, Mr Igor Evguenievich Levitin with, in recognition of his personal and outstanding contribution to the development of road transport in the Russian Federation in conjunction with the IRU’s Russian Member Association ASMAP, as well as for his continuous support of the IRU’s work.
In his capacity as Chairman of the Coordinating Transport Committee of the CIS (CTC), Mr Levitin fully supported the implementation of the IRU-CTC Agreement to promote and further facilitate international road transport in the CIS region. Thanks to Mr Levitin, the IRU and CTC have obtained the support of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin in the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Beijing, to improve and accelerate the facilitation and the development of international road transport and the development of commercial road transport from China and Central Asia to Russia and the EU, along highway E-40, which follows a branch of the IRU’s NELTI Northern Route.
