The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) rendered a Technical Assistance (TA) Grant, jointly managed by the International Road Transport Union (IRU), to the Arab Union of Land Transport (AULT) in 2011.
The TA Grant has three main objectives:

  1. Improve the efficiency of road transport services in the LAS Region by facilitating international road transport thus trade through the implementation of the TIR Convention;
  2. Develop professional training for road transport managers and drivers at international standards as provided by the IRU Academy training programmes; and
  3. Improve road safety by identifying the causes of accidents involving heavy commercial vehicles through scientific research.

Islamic Development Bank (IDB)

The Islamic Development Bank is an international financial institution established in pursuance of the Declaration of Intent issued by the Conference of Finance Ministers of Muslim Countries held in Jeddah in December 1973. The purpose of the Bank is to foster the economic development and social progress of member countries and Muslim communities individually as well as jointly in accordance with the principles of Shari'ah i.e., Islamic Law. The functions of the Bank are to notably participate in equity capital and grant loans for productive projects and enterprises besides providing financial assistance to member countries in other forms for economic and social development.

Arab Union for Land Transport (AULT)

The Arab Union of Land Transport (AULT), located in Amman, Jordan, was established in 1976, as an offspring of the Arab Unified Economical Council. It is a Pan - Arab Organisation representing the road transport interests in Arab States League and has 60 members in 15 countries. The main objective of the AULT is to coordinate the efforts of its members in developing the land transport sector in all Arab countries by promoting operational efficiency and by increasing the scope of activities. It also provides assistance to its members to expand intra-Arab transport of individuals and goods, to facilitate transit transport, and to connect land transport fleets and modernise the road networks.

Founded in Geneva in 1948, the International Road Transport Union (IRU) is the world road transport organisation, which upholds the interests of bus, coach, taxi and truck operators to ensure economic growth and prosperity via the sustainable mobility of people and goods by road worldwide. 


Jadarah acts as project implementing partner of the IRU and the AULT to plan, organize and carry out actual monitoring of the real commercial cargo deliveries by road transport among the main itineraries in the Arab region.
